One of our last findings in the amazing land of Almeria was a mixed population of Iberus gualtieranus and Iberus campesinus. Exceptionally it seems that both taxa can hybridize since we found some shells with intermediate characters. More specifically, they were shells with the keel and the striation typical of Iberus gualtieranus but showing the big lip typical of Iberus campesinus.

Iberus gualtieranus
I. gualtieranus x campesinus
Iberus campesinus

This finding led us to draw some conclusions about systematics of the complex Iberus genus that you can check by clicking here (Spanish)
